What We Do
Universal Health Aid Toledo’s focus is to bring preventative and educative healthcare services to underprivileged persons within Lucas County and the Greater Toledo Area. With about a quarter of the region’s population of 431,000 individuals living below the poverty level, access to a healthy lifestyle and quality care is greatly limited for many. As such, UHA Toledo proves to be a powerful facilitator in bringing comprehensive and holistic service to an extremely intimate level. 2016’s Free Health Fair saw about 100 children complete their annual school and sports physicals, an errand that would otherwise come at an expense to the impoverished local families, noted as having an average income of $26,680. In providing access to such medical specialties as pediatrics, dentistry, family medicine, ophthalmology, and cardiology, UHA Toledo strives to also offer a sense of comfort and unification to the community. Connecting patients with physicians with an array of resident health networks, UHA Toledo looks to strengthen the relationship and trust between the disadvantaged and healthcare professionals by means of free health screenings and informative service. As the organization enters into its fifth year, the volunteers and sponsors of UHA Toledo are committed more than ever to the goal of helping and serving all.
